The McNeill showing is located 4 kilometres south of Port McNeill.

Regionally, the area is underlain by the Triassic Vancouver Group Karmutsen Formation basalts and Quatsino Formation limestones and sedimentary rocks of the Upper Cretaceous Nanaimo Group Susquash sequence.

Mineralization occurs as amygdules filled with bornite, and some disseminated bornite, pyrite and chalcopyrite.

In 1989, the BC Government completed a moss mat sampling program that highlighted a strong copper-gold anomaly in the area.

In 1991, Daiwan Engineering Ltd. completed prospecting on the McNeill property. A total of 41 rock samples were collected, with eleven samples assaying over 0.1 per cent copper. The best result came from sample 57839, which assayed 2.8 per cent copper and 2.9 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21580).

In 1995, Winfield Resources Ltd. conducted a soil sampling survey consisting of greater than 268 samples.
